Designs & Prints

Design work is one of the most engaging and interesting branches of the visual arts. It permeates all aspects of our world, from the content we read to car we drive and even the beds we sleep in. My design work has, so far, been in the realm of graphic design. I began this art practice in university by learning the skill of Letterpress. This art form comes from vintage printing methods, and utilizes metal type on paper. Though the actual printing process is antique, often the design and layout for pieces happens in the digital world. That being said, there is a beauty to the wabi-sabi nature of creating work with purely analog technology (eyeballs, a pica ruler, and metal type). Regardless of if my work is analog, digital, or a combination thereof, I like understated and minimalist design. In the words of Dieter Rams, "good design is as little design as possible."
