Letterpress Designs
Letterpress is one of the most simultaneously enjoyable and frustrating art forms to exist. There is a visual quality to this vintage technique that cannot be achieved any other way. The process can be a study in Zen, as you zone in and set type for a new print. At the same time, it can drive one crazy when a whole run of prints is done with a serious typo, or the little pieces of type won't seat properly. This dichotomy is what makes the process so interesting, and the results make the whole thing worth it. Thanks to in-depth mentoring, I have become skilled in the world of letterpress and comfortable with the wabi-sabi inherent in such a human printing method. My letterpress works tend to be more playful than my digital work, regardless of if it came off a printing press or my typewriter.
