Sculpture
Though I have long held an interest in sculpture as a viewer, it wasn't until my formal artistic education that I really began to investigate the style from the creation side. Over the years I began to develop a sculptural taste for industrial materials, such as concrete, metal, plate glass, and resin. This taste has developed into a full blown appetite now, and these are the materials I most often find myself drawn to. In my practice I use a number of different processes to make my pieces, from casting to hand fabrication. In terms of showing these pieces, I have grown to enjoy the process and results that accompany an installation, rather than just putting each piece on a plinth independent of each other and the environment in which they exist. While I do make some pieces which exist solely on a base, these are now less frequent than installations. This is because I believe that adding consideration of the surrounding environment can heighten the viewing experience of, and engagement with, the artwork.
